Creative Writing Ideas
Author: Samantha Asher

If you really love to write, you would think it would be easy to come up with some good creative writing ideas. Sometimes it is, but other times you get trapped by writer’s block. Most often, you would think of writer’s block as something you get when you are working on something, maybe an article or novel, and you can’t think of what to write next. This is writer’s block, but often you need ideas on what to write in the first place. A lack of ideas can really slow you down when you want to begin writing.

If you are looking for some creative writing ideas and enjoy fiction, you should try writing some short stories. Even if you come up with an idea that you think sounds stupid, give it a try and write. If it turns out bad , it is okay because it was only a short story and didn’t take you a long time . You might find that the dumb idea you thought of turned into a great story.

For specific ideas, search around you. Pay attention to people around you. Try to listen to their conversations. If it’s interesting, maybe you could write about it? Pick a area you know well, maybe at school, work, or a favorite destination and build a story with it. You could use one room in a building you know well and create a whole story about it. You could use the people you meet and know as your characters, or only use their situations. It is your choice.

How about your dreams? If you dream a lot and can recall your dreams, think about how you could turn them into a story. If you have weird dreams and love to write fantasy or sci-fi, this might be perfect for you. You could write down your dream word for word and then add to it. Or, you could just use one idea from it. Maybe a character, idea, or small event will stand out because of a dream you remember.

Think about all the things that happen to you and what has happened to you in the past in your life. If you write in a diary or journal, read through it and see if you can find any ideas. If you don’t keep a journal, start keeping a journal for ideas in the future. It is a very useful. Think about the funniest or most interesting thing that has ever happened to you and use it into a story. If you think your life is full of drama, maybe it is full of enough drama to make an interesting dramatic story.

If you ever run out of creative writing ideas, all you have to do is look around. Give yourself some time and you will think of something. Even if you start an idea that you don’t really like, you might think of a better one in the process. Even if you already have an idea, when new ones pop into your head, jot them down for future stories and projects. You will thank yourself. Whatever you decide, just keep writing.

Ways to Improve Your Creative Writing Skills
by James Hunt

For some people creative writing is very hard. They have a hard time trying to put their thoughts and ideas on paper. For some no matter what they do, the writing is always of poor quality and the ideas seem jumbled and non-seneschal. People make the mistake of thinking that creative writing has to be off the wall, out of this world writing. That is not the cases at all.

There are ways in which you can improve your creative writing skills. These are simple and hardly require much effort at all. The most important thing about creative writing is that you write about things that have meaning to you. If you are writing about things that you know nothing about or do not care about then yes, the writing will be bad. When people write about things they care about the writing automatically improves because the reader can see the reader's personality coming through in the words that they have written. The writer begins to capture the reader, and when this happens then you know you have written a good piece.

You should always carry a notebook or journal around with you. This way you can write down feelings and emotions. You can write about things that you see and how you felt. From these little notes you can expand and create fantastic stories. Some people even begin writing a book from these little sentences they write in their notebooks.

Another key to good creative writing is to organize your thoughts and ideas. If the writing is not organized, no matter what you do the writing will not be good. The reader will be confused and in some cases they will give up reading. You should always separate your ideas into plot, setting, characters and climax. Under each heading write you thoughts and ideas. Once this is done, you a begin putting together the piece of the puzzle, which is your story.
